The Joys of Kindergarten

I love my job.
There really isn't more to say
I love it.
Every day is an adventure.
One of the best reasons why I enjoy it so much is hearing what the kids say. Especially if they are mad or frustrated with you for being so "controlling."
Here is a run-down of my favorite so far:

Little British Boy (yes, we have a Brit in my class!): But Miss Diana, WHY can't I lay down?

me: ____ (insert name) because you need to be in control. it's time to listen to miss shavon. Kindergarten is hard work! It's your job to do your best Kindergarten work and learn lots so you will be smart.

Boy: But I don't LIKE to be smart! (as he starts kicking wildly)

Me: _______ I understand you don't want to sit up, but right now you don't have a choice. You need to sit up.

Boy: I don't like you. You are getting nothing but nasty things for your birthday. Nasty things. Things with slimy, dirty, ugly things.

Me (under my breath): good thing my birthday isn't until december then.

But hey, he sat up! And participated for the rest of class, so I dub this a successful conversation!
And yes, this is exactly why I love my job!

Other things I have learned thus far:
Spiders have two body parts: the cephalothorax and abdomen. They also have a pair pedopalps next to their eight eyes and spinnerettes in the rear.
Spiders have eight legs (yeah I knew this okay), but did you know they all come out of the cephalothorax (meaning they come out of the top part of their body?)
Penguins live in Peru
Snowflakes form around dust particles in the air. So essentially, my favorite food is dust.
AND
kids start young with asking for phone numbers....yesterday i not only received a number from someone, but was also asked what my number was. Yikes. Next step, they'll all have their own cell phones.
