A little bit of Ernest, Portsmouth and Henry VIII

This last Monday night, we had the treat of going to The Importance of Being Ernest. What a funny play! It was in the Open Air Theatre in Regents Park. Naturally on the way to the park, we took some stellar pictures.

Our new favorite thing is to act out all the statues we pass by. Actually this isn't our new favorite thing. We've always done it. But this wasn't too bad, yeah?

Now we are entering our Wednesday field trip to Portsmouth. This is a coastal town that houses the Royal Navy. It was really cool to see some of the old ships that they have renovated and put on display. We saw the Maryrose and got a harbor tour. It was nice to get a different look at how England does its navy. There were some interesting facts too in the museums that surprised me. Women weren't allowed in the Navy (as sailors) until 1991. Up until then they were only allowed as cooks or to do laundry/housekeeping type of things.

This is one of the cute sailors we fell for.

Friday was a magical day. We went to Hampton Court and got to reinact on of Henry VIII's many weddings. They even gave us these little robes to sport around in and be accepted as the wedding party. How lovely! Very flattering too. But it was cool to get the little tour thing and act like a little princess again. If there is one thing that i've learned while being here, it is that all girls really are princesses. :)

This just happens to be THE Thomas Seymour. For those of you out there that might not be up to date with English History (shame on you), he was the son of Queen Jane. He later married Kateryn Parr (Henry's last wife) and was quite the flirt. Needless to say, this man new how to act the part REALLY well.

Di!!!!! I love that you are going to these places! Did you meet King Henry VIII at Hampton Court as well??? I just think he's so fascinating.... he definitely was trying to compensate for SOMETHING.

Go to Tuk Tuk on Queensway and get Coconut Chicken (number 50 or 51 I think).

Love love love!
