I had mixed feelings about this place. It was cool to see all these crazy animals, but so sad because they are in such small quarters compared to the big ocean they were meant for. Yeah, I feel like an animal rights activist, but don't you feel bad for these guys?
We watched them feed the sting ray.
Then took an expedition to see the penguins. Don't be fooled, this place wasn't as big as it looks and there was yellow snow everywhere. Poor guys. They must be so bored just watching our red disneyland van style ride come by over and over and over.
Part of this museum was about Antarctica. Lots of expeditions take off from New Zealand because of how close it is. We read a book in Children's Lit about Shackleton's expedition where no men died even though they lost everything they brought with them. It was cool to read up on it and see some artifacts from their adventure. There was even some video footage that they took back then.
Sharks! This guy was following us around. I think he was humoring us. Side note: the eye focus on my camera found his eye and focused on it while i was taking pictures....weird
